The 16th International Conference on Informatics in Education held online from November 8 to 10, 2024 (http://events.di.ionio.gr/cie/index.php/en/) is published under the European Journal of Engineering and Technology Research (EJ-ENG). The Conference on Informatics in Education is co-organized by and Department of Informatics of Ionian University (https://di.ionio.gr) and the Department of Informatics of the University of Piraeus (https://www.cs.unipi.gr/), Greece, in collaboration with the Greek Computer Society (http://epy.gr/) and under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports. This is the eighth consecutive year in which selected papers presented at the conference are published after blind review in the journal. The published manuscripts are selected under a double peered review process among a significant number of manuscripts submitted to the conference.
The current special issue includes 10 papers related to informatics issues in education. More specifically, the issue includes works that focus on: Image Recognition from Large Language Models; Integrating Engineering Design Process in STEM Education; Harnessing ICT Tools for Cultural Organisations; Artificial Intelligence in Foreign Language Education; Utilization of AI Generated Virtual Research Participants in Research; Research on AI and its Prospects in Primary Education; Identification of Deepfakes and Related Challenges; Teachers' views on the Educational Use of Interactive Whiteboards; AI and Secondary School Teachers; and, Novel Methods for Teaching Geometry Concepts.
